Before buying a pellet stove it is good to evaluate what power we need to heat the whole house well. Calculating the heat requirement necessary to heat the home is not at all simple because it should take into account factors such as insulation, the presence of insulation in the walls, the quantity and type of fixtures, exposure to the sun ... To simplify, we will explain how to calculate the thermal power taking into account only the size of the house.

We must know that the heat requirement is based on the quantity of cubic meters to be heated, which in principle are around 35-40 calories per cubic meter.
Example: for a house of 100 m2 with a ceiling height of 2.5 m we will have (100 m2 x 2.5 m. H) = 250 m3; the power to be installed will be m3 250 x Kcal 35 = Kcal. 8750. Emphasizing that: 1 Kilowatt = 1000 Watt, 1 thermal Kwatt = 860 calories and 1 Kilocaloria = 1000 calories, the value expressed in thermal Kw is: 8750 divided by 860 = approximately 10.17 Kw, therefore a stove is required of about 10 kW of power.

How to channel pellet stove, installation
With the pellet stove we can heat the whole house through a network of centralized pipes that channel the hot air coming from the combustion of the pellets. They can provide for the heating of rooms up to 100 square meters: it is not recommended in houses with two or more floors since the distribution valve should have greater power with a consequent increase in noise, which would be very annoying. The heat can also be distributed evenly in all the rooms, with the possibility of regulating the temperature independently in the different environments.
The stove must be placed on a floor protection; once positioned it is necessary to create a waste evacuation system through a simple wall pipe, which can be connected to an existing flue. Otherwise we can build a flue along an external wall with double-walled pipes in insulated stainless steel. It is preferable to build a hatch at the base of the barrel to collect the soot that forms during the operation of the stove.
Previously metal pipes were used for ducting inside the house, now special plastic pipes in polybutylene and polypropylene resistant to corrosion and electrolysis are used. The pipes can be placed on the ground, under the floor or along the walls; alternatively you can create fake columns, arches or plasterboard walls to your liking of different sizes and colors where to pass the pipes.
