How to prepare fig jam

THEfigsthey lend themselves well in the preparation of unusual jams, we are not talking about the classic fig jam, rather we are referring to the various combinations that can give life to new flavors to be discovered.

Since figs are very sweet, a minimum amount of sugar is required for the preparation of jams, and you canprepare jamsadding particular ingredients, it is the case offig jamsand cocoa-flavored almonds, theJam Figsand almonds flavored with rum and fig jam and dried fruit flavored with cinnamon.

Fig jamsand cocoa-flavored almonds

  • 500 grams of peeled figs
  • 350 grams of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 lemon
  • 50 grams of peeled almonds


  • Peel the figs completely removing both peel and stalk and divide them into four parts.
  • On the stove, over medium heat, place a steel pot in which you have added the sugar, the lemon peel cut into large strips and its juice.
  • Chop the almonds with the food processor.
  • When thejamit will have thickened and can be detached from the sides of the pot, turn off the heat, remove the lemon peels and add the chopped almonds with the bitter cocoa.
  • Mix everything and pour the jam while still hot into well sterilized glass jars.
  • Fill them up to 1 cm from the edge and seal them tightly.
  • The jars should be kept in a cool and dark place.

Fig jamsand rum flavored almonds

  • 500 grams offigspeeled and cut as described above
  • 350 grams of sugar
  • 50 ml of rum
  • 1/2 orange
  • 50 grams of peeled almonds

The procedure is almost identical: after 20 minutes of cooking the jam, add the chopped and toasted almonds for a few minutes and add the rum. Also in this case the jars should be stored in the dark and in a cool and clean place.

Fig jams and cinnamon-flavored dried fruit

  • 500 grams of peeled figs cut into four parts
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 20 grams of almonds
  • 20 grams of pine nuts
  • 10 grams of hazelnuts
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Follow the preparation described above. In the pot you will need to add the sugar, chopped nuts, lemon juice and cinnamon. When the jam has thickened well (cooked until it detaches from the sides of the pot easily), pour it into well sterilized jars.
