Green fashion, the evolution of fashion

They call herGreen Fashion, sometimes even "eco fashion”And it is not a typical fashion of the modern days. Even theNew York Timesdedicated an article to Green fashion, was entitled "The Green Movement in the Fashion World ",in the same period the authoritative voice of Vogue dedicated, in its pages, a special on thesustainable fashion… Let's talk about articles published in 1990, about 25 years ago.

It is evident, the Green Fashionhas very deep roots: the seed ofeco-friendly fashionwas planted in the early nineties and today splendid flowers seem to be sprouting even in our country and above all, from brand that you do not expect.

In the early nineties, in the field ofeco fashion, stylists began to experiment with the first eco-friendly fabrics and in the world of fashion the concept of creative recycling. In Paris, the Malian designer, Lamine Kouyaté, went on a hunt for old fabrics that he could recycle with creative hands and associate them with the Xuly-Bet brand. In Italy, Giorgio Armani approached the world of "organic fabrics”Experiencing the goodness of hemp.

In 1988, an evening dress made with recycled fabrics made its debut on the catwalks, including a leather apron; the dress bore the signature ofMartin Margiela. In 1989, Franco Moschino launched a line of T-shirts featuring a slogan asking consumers to stop treating oceans as wastewater, “Stop Using Our Oceans as a W.C.”.

ThereGreen Fashionpours environmental problems into the fashion world so as to be able to trigger, in the minds of consumers, a certain environmental awareness. There Green fashiondisseminates and follows principles of environmental sustainability such as:

-the recycling of waste
Stylists and designers using recycled materials are able to launch high fashion dresses with great aesthetic value on the catwalks. One example among many,Catherine Edouard Charlotcollecting umbrellas found on the streets of New York, she managed to craft a tasteful evening dress, as well as a collection of bags ideal for theStreet Fashion. Not just clothing, with the principle of reuse theGreen Fashionoffers jewelry and other trendy accessories: glasses, belts, shoes, iPad cases and other devices.

- the use of Vintage
The new Vintage fashion exploits fabrics abandoned in the old textile factories to recover materials that have been disused since 1942.

-the choice of raw material
When it comes to not recycled fabrics, the raw material used in theeco-friendly fashionit must be characterized by a low environmental impact. Successful are organic raw materials, such as cotton grown without pesticides and textile dyes free from chemicals harmful to the environment. The raw materials that make up an iconic garment fromGreen Fashionthey should come from a fair trade program.

- the life cycle
The clothing and accessories of theGreen Fashionthey should be made to last over time and, once their life cycle is over, they should not cause disposal problems.
