Several companies have developed a particular system of DIY thermal coat which consists in the installation of pre-plastered high-density EPS panels, so as to form an even decorative insulation. Unlike the traditional coat, there is no need for specialized labor, thus leading to a significant reduction in costs.

The material used in the assembly of the DIY thermal coat it is available in various sizes to allow for easier installation. When choosing the panels it is good to evaluate the quality: durability, insulation power, fire resistance and breathability. In fact, all these elements contribute to the re-fitting of the coat.
DIY thermal coat, execution
The execution of the DIY thermal coat involves the following steps: preparation of the wall, application of the glue on the panel, gluing the panel to the wall and finally sealing the joints with a suitable acrylic sealant. Here is the procedure:
- If the walls have the classic plastered masonry, it is first necessary to remove all impurities and all raised parts of the plaster.
- Once this is done, you will have to brush the wall very carefully and wash with water under pressure: in case of cracks, you will need to fill them with a specific mortar for the type of masonry and wait for it to dry.
- We proceed with the application of the glue on the panel and the gluing on the wall starting from the bottom, arranging the panels with the longest side horizontally: it will be good to make sure that the panels are smooth and that the adhesive does not reach the joints of the panels, otherwise potential thermal bridges can be created.
- To make the panel adhere well to the surface, you will have to operate with a trowel, exerting light pressure on the panel: for greater safety, it is advisable to fix the panels with dowels after gluing.
After sealing, it is recommended to paint the treated part with an elastomeric paint.
