Re-Cycling is a fun way to learn how to separate well and recycle better: it is being offered throughout the country on Tour of Italy, together with CONAI. Each player competes by pedaling but also by collecting and differentiating the packaging he encounters on his way to victory. The "common mistakes" are lurking, and there are many more than you imagine. From "false glass" to pizza boxes ... but if you differentiate yourself well, you pedal faster and win!
1) What is the purpose of the game? Why Re-Cycling?
CONAI (National Packaging Consortium), he threw Re-cycling, the video game and the app, to bring to life the unique experience of the Giro d'Italia, of which CONAI is an official partner, and to learn how to properly differentiate and recycle packaging waste in the best possible way. The game is part of Collection 10+, the event that CONAI organizes every year to promote the importance of quality separate waste collection among citizens.
2) How does it work specifically?
Each player will have to "drive" a cyclist along a stage of the Giro. Along the way he will encounter packaging of different materials: steel, aluminum, paper, wood, plastic, glass. He will have to "pick them up", riding his bicycle over them, trying not to hit his opponents or go off the road so as not to be slowed down. The packaging must be separated in the special containers that you will encounter later along the route. The correct choices will allow the player to benefit from an acceleration that will allow him to reach the finish line faster.
3) How can I enter the game and until when can I participate? What do you win?
Re-cycling, in its physical version, will be present at theEcological island, in each arrival village of the Giro d’Italia. The citizens present will be able to get on a real Pinarello racing bicycle and learn to differentiate correctly, pedaling. It is also possible to play the video game online at www.raccolta10piu.it where, in addition to the decalogue, you will find all the information relating to the stages and the competition combined with the Giro. Who plays from home with Re-cycling can win the official pink jersey of the Giro every day, setting the best time and thus being the first to cross the virtual finish line of Re-cycling. It can also be accessed through the App for smartphones or tablets.
4) What kind of participation are you experiencing? What target?
L'Ecological island is having a great response: people are very curious, they approach the stand and ask us questions, they want to understand how to improve the separate collection that everyone carries out in their daily lives, they are amazed at common mistakes and promise not to repeat them. Many are particularly enthusiastic because for the first time the Giro d’Italia is tinged with "green", because we are talking about environmental sustainability and the rules of quality separate waste collection are put into practice.
5) Is this the first time you have used this vehicle? What type of content do they want to convey?
Yes, this is the first time we use Re-cycling: this game was made by CONAI specifically for the Giro d'Italia, followed by over 10 million citizens. The goal is to involve them on how important it is to make a quality separate collection. Also for this fourth edition of Collezione 10+, CONAI has chosen to involve people in a playful and fun way, without neglecting the educational side and attention toeco-sustainability, exactly as happened last year with the Re-basket initiative.
6) Do we reiterate the tenets of good harvest?
Absolutely yes! The Decalogue of the Differentiated Quality Collection will be distributed in each of the 21 stages of the Giro, both at the starting village and at the arrival village at theEcological island. Just follow some simple common sense rules to make a good separate collection and thus improve the recycling results of packaging waste. Let us therefore remember to correctly separate the packaging according to the material they are made of and place them in the appropriate container for separate collection, to always reduce the volume of packaging, to divide, when possible, the packaging composed of several materials and finally to remove waste and food residues from packaging before placing them in containers for separate collection.
7) What are the “most tiring” points, where users are more negligent?
There are some common mistakes, which should be avoided, as in the case of glass: some materials look like glass but they are not. The most insidious case is that of glass ceramic (pirex). Other materials not to be collected together with glass are light bulbs, discharge lamps (neon) and mirrors, which are absolutely not compatible with glass recycling. In the case of paper, the most common mistake is to insert paper soiled with food (such as pizza boxes), soil, toxic substances such as solvents or paints, etc. in the container for separate collection. In the case of plastic, all types of plastic packaging must be placed in the container but be careful not to introduce other objects, even if plastic, such as toys, vases, small appliances or stationery.
