Have you ever worn a garment and noticed that it was punctured or damaged? It could be that your home is infested with moths, small insects that feed on textiles. Taking into account that they exclusively lay eggs in the dark, identifying them becomes rather difficult. If we want to avoid redoing the entire wardrobe, we need to get rid of moths immediately. In this regard we will illustrate you how to fight moths, following some useful indications.


How to fight moths, infested tissues
If you think they are infested, remove clothes, blankets and fabrics of various kinds from drawers and closets, put them one by one, in plastic bags then put them in a freezer for about 24 hours: the cold will prevent any unwanted insect from surviving. After the necessary time has elapsed, collect your clothes and everything else and leave them outdoors for one or two days. Then wash them as usual and put them back in their respective places. Be careful, before putting them away, make sure everything has been thoroughly cleaned.

Before disinfecting the fabrics, it is necessary to do a thorough cleaning of the cabinets and drawers, thoroughly washing both the internal and external surfaces. As a detergent we can use a solution consisting of two parts of water and one of vinegar.

  • Use mosquito nets or thin curtains especially in the evening
  • Place lavender sachets inside wardrobes and drawers: in addition to keeping these insects away, they will give your clothing a pleasant scent. Another natural repellent is represented by orange, lemon or cedar peels, or by inserting cloves in the pockets of clothes
  • Let your clothes get air regularly: moths do not like to live outdoors, but prefer closed places.

Frequently checking clothes and blankets will give you the opportunity to notice the presence of moths in a timely manner, before they spread excessively thus affecting our garments.
