Macrolibrarsi after more than 10 years it also becomes a physical, agricultural, "green" place. It becomes educational camps and courses, workshops and genuine food. He invented the Self-sufficiency Farm and the young creator tells us about it Francesco Rosso. It is located in the Romagna Apennines, on the edge of the Casentinesi Forest Park, with a breathtaking view worthy of Macrolibrarsi, within the Mountain Community of the Cesenate Apennines (Bagno di Romagna).
1) When was this Macrolibrarsi Farm born and where is it located?
The Self-Sufficiency Farm project was born in 2009, when Macrolibrarsi, has decided to buy about 70ha of land in the Romagna Apennines, on the edge of the Casentino Forest Park, a wonderful place.Macrolibrarsi has been dealing with the well-being of body, mind and spirit for over 10 years and has chosen a breathtaking landscape and partly unspoiled nature.
2) With which mission Macrolibrarsi was conceived?
The mission of the Farm resumes that of Macrolibrarsi. The goal is to live in a world of aware and healthy people. WithMacrolibrarsi, through culture we work on awareness, at the farm the goal is to transform awareness into reality. So here is a place where we cultivate with respect for nature, where we feed ourselves in a healthy way with self-produced food, where green building buildings produce more energy than they consume. Macrolibrarsi has created a meeting place where holistic disciplines can be explored and the true link between man and nature can be rediscovered.
3) Why did you choose to focus on permaculture?
There permaculture fits perfectly with what is the project of Macrolibrarsi since it deals with creating human settlements that are sustainable over time. This is exactly one of our objectives at the Fattoria. Create a large ecosystem where the rationalization of resources is at the center of decisions.
4) How do you deal with it?
We have designed La Fattoria through a "detailed model" trying to stick to the principles of permaculture, observing natural processes to optimize our intervention, minimizing the use of non-renewable resources and impacting technology. We particularly value the biodiversity so we have many different cultures: cereals, vegetable gardens, orchards, hedges, aromatic plants, ponds, woods, food forest, greenhouse. There is no shortage of pastures with animals free to scratch and run and obviously completely uncontaminated areas as foreseen by permaculture.
5) Do you also do courses and workshops, with Macrolibrarsi, about it?
This is the fourth year we have been organizing a permaculture in the Farm: two intensive weeks with about thirty people including participants, teachers and wwoofers (volunteers). This creates a group of people driven by common values and the atmosphere is always spectacular. People finish the course with all the skills to be able to design a permaculture place that is their home, their company, their city or their dream. The Farm with Macrolibrarsi it also organizes shorter and more specific courses on synergistic agriculture, food forest, renewable energy and self-construction.
6) What response do you have from the territory, for permaculture and on the issues that Microlibrarsi already deals with?
We are in the early years of experimentation - the plants are growing, we are now renovating the first ruins, we are not yet independent from an energy point of view - and there is still no tangible proof of what we want to communicate. We are under observation and there is a lot of curiosity. Paradoxically we have more interactions with people from abroad than in the area, but I think that in the next few years there will be a reversal and we will be able to involve local communities.
7) How is it possible to collaborate with you and / or spend time with you?
Within 1-2 years we should usher in the new bio-farm, currently under construction. Today it is possible to participate in courses and open day that we periodically organize and provide voluntary work through the organization Wwoof Italia.
