Milk the Sun: the photovoltaic market without borders

Milk the sun: literally “Latte sole”… so? It means milking the sun. “We have to keep milking the sun,” he explains Felix Krause, CEO of Milk the Sun, and presents the international photovoltaic plant trading platform. A winning, bright and enlightening project.

1) When was Milk the Sun born and what services does it provide today?
Milk the Sun was born in Berlin in 2012 and in a short time became known in the international market as a leading platform in the sector of buying and selling photovoltaic systems. On the portal of Milk the Sun it is possible to compare, buy and sell photovoltaic systems in operation or already authorized projects. Thanks to our calculator it is possible to estimate the net value of the plant for free. The platform of Milk the Sun it works very simply and intuitively, and is available in five languages.

2) What is the mission of your Milk the Sun and what are the first results?
Milk the Sun aims to facilitate and make investments in the photovoltaic market transparent by eliminating long intermediation chains and shortening sales times. In 2013 Milk the Sun has managed to successfully broker more than 50 MW, managing to find the right plant for the right investor at the right price.

3) Who is Milk the Sun for?
The portal of Milk the Sun it is a useful distribution channel for project developers, managers and above all for owners of plants, roofs and land, and an effective purchase tool for private investors and for Italian and foreign funds.

4) How many users do you count? In which geographical areas is Milk the Sun present for now? Which are the most developed and attentive?
We have now reached 10 thousand registered users on the Milk the Sun. On the platform you can find plants and photovoltaic projects located not only in Europe but also in the USA, Latin America, Africa and Asia. The most requested markets remain the German and Italian ones, although at the moment interest is shifting towards the promising markets of Turkey, North Africa and Central America.

5) What services do you provide to favor a long life cycle of a photovoltaic system? Which are the most requested?
The companies in the photovoltaic sector with whom Milk the Sun has chosen to collaborate by offering numerous services, starting with support during the sale and purchase negotiations, carrying out a two technical diligence, administrative and legal, as needed. Several financial institutions offer the best solutions to still be able to invest with a good interest rate in photovoltaics. Finally, once the system has been purchased with Milk the Sun, maintenance and cleaning services are offered system monitoring.

6) In the "plant evaluation" section of Milk the Sun you can calculate the plant performance: how does it work?
Plant owners or purchasers can use the online calculator free of charge to find out the net selling price of their plant. The Milk the Sun calculator it is applicable to all countries and provides for various calculation parameters such as the date of connection of the system, the period of connection to the electricity grid and the amount of energy produced for self-consumption. The calculation suggests the cost of the plant for a specific period foreseen for the sale and calculates the income that the potential buyer could have from that particular plant.

7) As an international reality, how does Milk the Sun assess the situation of photovoltaics in Italy?
Political and regulatory uncertainty, bureaucratic delays and cuts in incentives certainly do not encourage investments in the photovoltaic sector. And with the abolition of the Energy bill it has become difficult to build new photovoltaic systems. But perMilk the Sun the beautiful country has all the right characteristics to achieve grid parity thanks to the high solar radiation, in the south it reaches 1500 kWh / kWp.
