The bio-ecological paints they are breathable, antistatic, usually with a pleasant scent. They are suitable for the treatment of walls, furnishings, fixtures, radiators and pipes, parquet, home and garden furniture. They are produced with an industrial process but starting from natural organic and inorganic components.
Characteristic of the bio-ecological paints, in addition to the low environmental impact in production and disposal, is that they do not contain harmful or irritating substances that are released over time and can affect the quality of the air. Paints of this type are recommended in all closed environments, especially those hosting sensitive people and children.
What are the 'ingredients of bio-ecological paints? The components that are most often found in these paints (obviously the compositions and percentages vary) are vegetable oils (flax, wood, castor, citrus peel, cedar, conifers), waxes (bees, carnauba) and natural resins ( dammar, esterified coniferous resins, glycerin esters and rosin.
In the bio-ecological paints also used: gypsum, talc, clay, soy lecithin, silicic acid, propolis, lithopones, lead-free desiccants (cobalt octoate, zirconium and calcium) and inorganic pigments (titanium dioxide, iron oxides, green chromoxide, yellow di titanium and nickel, milori blue and others).
In some cases, even the bio-ecological paints they may contain some aliphatic hydrocarbons, but most of the products are completely free from petroleum derivatives. The only way to make sure of this is to carefully check the compositions that must be shown on the label.
The performance of bio-ecological paints have improved a lot in recent years thanks to new compositions and production processes, but they cannot always match the more aggressive synthetic paints in terms of 'adhesion' to substrates, quick drying, brilliance and durability. In short, we need a little more patience and maybe an extra hand, but in our opinion it's worth it.
