Dehumidifier, which is the most efficient choice?

A gooddehumidifierit is the appliance that by exploiting electricity manages to reduce the level ofhumiditypresent in the air. An optimal environment should contain values of humidityin the percentage range from 30 to 40. An air that is too dry leads to dehydration while an air that is too saturated withhumidityleads to the formation of mold.

According to the operating mechanism, idehumidifiersare divided into three categories, so we have idehumidifiers mechanical-refrigerants(they work thanks to a fan),dehumidifiers desiccants(they work thanks to a desiccant material) and classic air conditioners which, however, tend to dry out the environment too much.

THEdehumidifierscheaper are the mechanical-refrigerating ones but they are more efficient only in summer. THEdehumidifiers desiccants show good efficiency both at high temperatures and during the harshest winters. Adehumidifierdesiccant consists of a desiccant component (for example, silica gel), two fans and a heating element.

Adehumidifierof typedesiccativeit can be built at home using a plastic bottle and table salt. This article explains how to proceed for its realization: the most capable can add a fan capable of pushing inside thedehumidifierthe air saturated with humidity and another small fan capable of conducting the saturated air towards the desiccant (in the case of ado-it-yourself dehumidifierit will be sodium chloride, table salt).

The causes of humidityare many, we speak of "rising damp ",when the house does not boast excellent waterproofing of the building foundations (in this case, thehumiditycomes from the ground); we talk about "heat bridges "when thehumidityit is linked to the presence of thermal dispersions and heat bridges. The humidity in these cases tends to concentrate in the areas most subject to temperature changes.

Plus there arecausesbehavioral: water forgotten in the sink, excessively abundant irrigation administered to houseplants, washing machine door left open, water dripping from taps, clothes left to dry inside the home, hydraulic leaks due to poor home maintenance ...

Beforebuy a dehumidifierwe could proceed with an analysis "infrared thermography " which allows you to identify the origin ofhumidityso as to be able to act promptly, nipping the problem in the bud and without adding additional energy-eating appliances.
