So let's say that the cost of a branded flea, usually quite high, can be avoided. Our pets, cats and dogs usually, will be proof that a natural flea homemade works like the others.

Flea prevention

To keep fleas away, do prevention by using a few tricks. Fleas don't like strong smells (like ticks) and if you use substances like lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary, fennel and fern you will be able to keep them away. The ideal is to perfume the pet's night area with these essences, as long as he likes it.

Another system of prevention, before resorting to a natural flea, is to add fresh crumbled (or powdered) brewer's yeast and a little fresh garlic or capsules to the food of the animals. It will not be easy to convince the dog or cat to eat garlic, but the fleas (and ticks) will stop eating him.

Natural do-it-yourself anti-flea

In case of flea infestation, the animal and the surrounding environment must be treated. To get by on our own without buying the spray we can use the fennel, great natural flea. We can rub it fresh on the animal's fur, use the decoction with the addition of salt for the bath and use it dry in addition to the litter material.

Before bathing, it works to dust and brush the dog with an abundant amount of baking soda, which will exterminate the fleas. But then remember to rinse any residual bicarbonate from the fur to avoid irritation to your friend's skin. Talking about bathing is more difficult with cats, but if you let the pet understand that you are helping him, he will not object.

DIY flea collar

The flea collars on the market contain toxic substances, which are absorbed by the animal but we also risk absorbing ourselves through the skin. This risk does not exist if we make the collar ourselves with natural substances, which is easy and cheap.

You simply need a soft fabric collar and a blend made with the following ingredients:

  • half a tablespoon of food alcohol (or vodka);
  • 1 drop of cedar essential oil;
  • 1 drop of lavender essential oil;
  • 1 drop of lemongrass essential oil;
  • 1 drop of thyme essential oil;
  • 4-5 garlic capsules.

You will periodically wash the do-it-yourself flea collar and renew the application of flea substances, which you can also buy here:
